What people say about us

We welcome comments and feedback from our clients, whether they are parents or schools (or indeed the children themselves!)

From our very first meeting, it was clear that Julia was an expert in her field. She quickly identified key areas where she could support our daughter, including the correct formation of words, navigating social interactions, and many other challenges often faced by individuals with Autism. Her thoughtful, tailored approach made a real difference, and we saw steady progress over the months. Julia’s professionalism, empathy, and deep understanding were truly invaluable to our family. My son needed grommets in both ears when he was younger which really delayed his speech, we knew there would be a long wait list for the SALT, so we decided to look for a private speech therapist as we wanted to start before he started school and we found Julia. Me and Julia emailed back and forth to discuss my concerns and what stage my son was at with his speech and his likes before setting an appointment for Julia to come to our house to meet us. Julia would come to our house first off weekly then fortnightly as his speech improved. My son started getting excited when he knew Julia was coming as she was so friendly, took her time never rushed my son when he was struggling on certain words or sounds and then loved playing the games at the end of the session with Julia’s big bag of games. We would also get homework every time Julia came to keep practicing. Once my son started school he was so confident as his speech had improved so much. Julia still carried on seeing him fortnightly in school up until we moved. I am so thankful to Julia and everything she did for my son’s speech and his confidence. It is so nice to see my son so confident with his speaking and that is all thanks to Julia. I would 1000% recommend her to anyone who needs her help. She is an absolute star and worth her weight in gold. I am so thankful to her and what she has done for my son. Tiffany (Parent) 2025

It’s difficult to put into words how grateful we are for Julia from Clear Talking. Julia gave my son his voice when he couldn’t find his own. As parents we didn’t know what to do, it was clear our son was struggling and after years of being an interpreter to friends and family, we decided to seek support from a Speech and Language Therapist. We knew from the first conversation that Julia was going to be the one to help my son find his voice. Julia explained everything to us throughout our journey with her, supporting us as parents to supporting us as parents to support our son. Julia made the work fun and always finished each session with a fun game as a well done! Little did we know that only a short while after finishing working with our eldest that we would need her support again with our youngest. Without hesitation I reached out to Julia and we started all over again. Recommending Julia to others is something I never hesitate to do, she is fantastic at what she does, supportive to the whole family and will continue to recommend her to others. Once again, thank you Julia for all you’ve done for me and my family x Lauren H (parent) 2025

Special Needs Teacher - I have worked with Julia for many years in a special school setting. I have seen first hand how her interventions have transformed the young people she has worked with. Julia’s professionalism, enthusiasm and pure knowledge in speech and language is amazing. Julia’s sessions are always well planned and based around the needs of her learners. Her bubbly personality and extensive total communication skills bring out the best in her students. Julia has the ability to improve the communication skills of her students through kindness, skill and tenacity. I have learnt so much working with Julia and she has had a huge impact on the way I communicate and teach children. Penny Thompson 2025

St Joseph’s RC School approached Julia as some of our children required speech and language therapy.  We believed that good communication skills were vital to achieve academic success.  As a result, Julia helped us by assessing and delivering high quality, individual speech and language programmes tailored to the individual needs.  She also provided staff with valuable CPD through discussions and practical demonstrations.  The results of such programmes, that Julia put in place, are having a tremendous impact on our children.  Julia also provided detailed updates to members of staff each week, individual targets for the child and met with a number of parents to discuss a child’s progress.  St Joseph’s would highly recommend Julia to anyone who is thinking of employing a speech and language expert in school or working individually with your child.  The whole school have noted Julia’s dedication and commitment each week.

My name is Tess Forsdyke and I am Mum to 4 year old Tristan. Tristan has Hemiplegia and as a result of this has speech delay. Tristan suffered very badly with confidence and having had a bad experience with a past therapist he was not open to SALT, his speech was minimal and non-existent around anyone outside the family. I contacted Julia Charlesworth through the ASLTP website and arranged for him to have an assessment. Having attended the assessment and roughly 7 sessions I believe it is fair to say Julia has performed a miracle, he is no longer scared and enjoys trying to talk and after only 3 sessions he was actually happy to speak to a stranger. He is happy and relaxed to attend sessions and actually looks forwards to them. Having been such a success we have decided to keep the sessions going even though we have managed to get an NHS therapist. I never believed that Tristan would be doing so well in only 4 months and spent a lot of time worrying, although we still don’t know what the future holds I am happy to say it seems that little bit less worrying. Thank you from all of us from the bottom of our hearts.
